Hike NS AGM and Hikes: June 1-2, Antigonish County

Annual General Meeting: June 2 Antigonish Co.

Hike Nova Scotia’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, June 2 at St. Joseph’s Lakeside Community Centre, near Antigonish (2752 Ohio East Road, St. Joseph’s, Antigonish Co., see directions at www.sjlcc.ca). A light lunch will be provided starting at 12 pm with the AGM from 1 to 3 pm. Please RSVP to info@hikenovascotia.ca.

During the AGM, Hike NS will be happy to recognize Peter Jackson with an award for outstanding leadership in the development of hiking trails in Antigonish County. There will also be presentations on hiking in Antigonish County and on the Keppoch Mountain project.

Hikes: June 1 & 2

Guided hikes will be offered on Friday, June 1 at Beaver Mountain Provincial Park at 6 pm (directions here) and on June 2 at Keppoch Mountain at 10 am (see directions below).

Directions to the hike at Keppoch Mountain: Driving east on Highway 104, towards Antigonish, take the ramp and turn right onto the Beaver Meadow Road and Beaver Mountain Road beside Riverside Speedway at Exit 30, James River. Turn left onto the continuation of the Beaver Meadow Road at the next stop sign, a short drive from the highway. Turn right at the next road on the right, St. Joseph’s Road. From here it is 2 km. Turn right onto Keppoch Road, the first right. Continue on until you reach a road to the left with an open gate. The meeting place for the hike is the club house for the Antigonish Sno-Dogs.

Coming from Antigonish, driving West, take Exit 30, cross the highway toward Beaver Meadow Road and continue as above.
